Surrey Woodburners’ commitment to the Environment
At Surrey Woodburners we strive to provide clear, impartial advice. There has been much press over emissions and wood burners and many stove owners may well be confused about how it will affect them. Here we try to dispel some myths and tackle the frequently asked question around Ecodesign 2022.
We offer our customers the assurance that the stove they purchase meets all the current UK standards on emissions. Many stoves supplied by Surrey Woodburners have already been designed to meet the new European standards for particulate emissions (Ecodesign Ready stoves) even though this requirement does not officially come into effect in this country until 2022.
It is proven that open fires and old stoves have increased emissions contributing to our pollution. Many stove manufacturers recognised some years ago that minimising emissions from their appliances would be critical to their long-term sustainability resulting in manufactures developing advanced designs which are both much more efficient in terms of output and reduction of particulate emissions.
Modern wood burners are much more efficient that the simple stoves of twenty years ago, they are designed not only to burn logs twice but most now burn three times which reduces the emissions even more.
“Well seasoned wood is also a must” says Charles Cavaliero of Surrey Woodburners. “We offer our customers a list of recommended local log suppliers and also recommend that a moisture metre be part of their stove kit if collecting their own wood. Remember….wood which is damp or poorly seasoned will burn slowly, produce more smoke resulting in harmful emissions!
We’re proud to supply our customers with the very best selection of modern, technically advanced highly efficient wood burners. With our help and the availability of well manufactured stoves we can continue to improve the atmosphere and provide warmth and comfort to homes for years to come!
